Recipe 1: Gajar ka halwa
Ingredients:
Grated carrot                                                                1 kg
Milk                                                                             1 Litre
Whole dried milk (mawa)                                             200 gm
Sugar                                                                            2 cups
Ghee                                                                             2 tbsp
Dry fruits (sliced almond and cashew nuts, raisin )          1/2 cup
Cardamom powder                                                       1/2 cup
Steps:
1. Put milk and grated carrots in a heavy base deep saucepan (kadhai) and bring it to boil. Cook over medium heat until all the milk gets dried up. You should stir the mixture occasionally to prevent any sticking.
2. Add sugar, cardamom (daalchini) powder, 1/4 cup dry fruits and continuously stir for 5-7 minutes.
3. Add ghee and mawa. Stir well and fry on low heat until ghee starts separating.
4. Decorate with remaining dry fruits.
5. Serve hot in the small Bindaas Glass Bowl!
Recipe 2: Gulab Jamun
Ingredients:
Whole dried milk (mawa)                     1 cup
Refined flour                                         2 tbsp
Sugar                                                   1-1/2 cup
Baking powder                                    1/4 tsp
Cardamom powder                             1/4 tsp
Water                                                  3 cup
Ghee                                                   As per need
Steps:
1. Mix sugar, water and cardamom powder and cook until the syrup becomes thick.
2. Mix mawa, refined flour, baking powder and water and make soft, smooth dough (Water should be just sufficient for kneading a smooth dough).
3. Make small balls of equal size. Be sure that the balls (jamun) are smooth and no crack develops. Keep aside.
4. Heat ghee in a kadhai / deep frying pan.
5. Deep fry the balls over medium heat until golden brown.
6. Put the balls in hot syrup and keep aside for 10-12 minutes.
7. Gulab Jamuns are ready. Warm before serving in the medium-sized Bindaas Glass Bowl!
Recipe 3: Sooji ka halwa
Ingredients:
Steps:
Semolina (Sooji)                                 1/2 cup
Sugar (to taste)                                   1/4 cup
Ghee                                                   1/4 cup
Water                                                  1 cup  
Cardamom powder                             1/4 tsp
Raisins                                                 1 tbsp 
Sliced almonds                                    2 tbsp
Steps:
1.Mix sugar & water in a pan. Heat over low flame. Bring it to boil & set aside.
2.Heat ghee in a kadhai. Add sooji, raisins and cardamom powder and fry until it is very light golden brown in color. Constantly stir it to ensure even browning.
3.Add sugar water (syrup) and mix rapidly to prevent lump formation.
4.Cook over medium heat until the water gets completely absorbed.
5.Decorate with sliced almonds in the large Bindaas Glass Bowl and serve hot!

‘Maamu ailaa re’ My mind thought aloud.

But before I could react, I got fined yet again this morning, all thanks to my boss! He invariably has to call me when I’m on my way to work. These bosses I tell you! I knew ek na ek din toh maamu pakdega hi! Today was the auspicious day. Just when I was at the crossing adjacent our office, my phone beeped. Invariably, it was my boss. The traffic light was red so I decided to take the call. But, as my poor luck would have it, the signal turned green just when I said “hello!” Lo and behold, a maamu (policeman in Mumbai) appeared in front of me almost out of from nowhere just as Gods would appear in B.R. Chopra’s serials mythological serials. He blew his whistle at me and swayed his stick in the air.

I had to part with the only five hundred rupees in my wallet, early in the morning. What a start to a day! I wish I had listened to my brother and bought the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-104.
