Online shopping is one of the pros of internet facility. One can log on to their favorite shopping site and simply click away in order to do shopping and browsing around.

In India online shopping is a viable option as there is a greater availability of internet facility nowadays due to the tech savvy veneer. Not only can only relax back on a couch and buy off the best of merchandise available in the world market, but also one can do all the cheap shopping too.

However, as it is with most internet related options, one has to be very careful about the safety measures. Yes, there are a set of tips that one should consider well before doing the online shopping. This is because; there is a chance of getting scammed too on the internet.

One should take care of the following things before purchasing something of the internet:

· Check for the little padlock at the bottom of the web page. This padlock assures one of the securities of the web page and of its scam free nature.

· Check for the ‘https’ prefix with the web address. The “S” in the https in the web address assures one of the safe and scam free nature of the website. It tells one that the website has not been tampered.

· Check for the unbroken key on the page.

· Trust your instincts too. See if you are comfortable with the website’s interface and if you have good vibes about it before you finally place your order.

· Try to know your merchant. At least know the necessary details of him.

· Try to contact the website managements. Call them and talk to them about your purchase.

· Print receipts for yourself. It is good to keep with you the proof of purchase.

· Cross check the pricings with other websites. See if the website is not over pricing a product.

· Go through the website’s privacy policies thoroughly. See if there is no loophole in the terms and conditions that are evident from the reading.

· Review all polices including the return, refund and exchange of goods that have been traded.

· Find out the safest way to pay on the internet. Is it the credit cards, debit cards, cheque, or is it the money booker services.

· Ensure the delivery is by a safe mode. Make sure someone receive the shipment for you even if you aren’t at home.

Shopping online is a rather surreal experience. And, it is always good to be prudent when you do the shopping.
